Definitely looking forward to this one. In Lemieux's seaside chat, he mentions that one of the Dark Star's has a nice Feelin' Groovy jam in it. Also, he mentions that the 2/2/70 version of Lovelight has a couple of verses of Not Fade Away.

However, the shows that he's hinting at for 2014 release might seem more interesting...

The full 2/2/70 Mason's is up for streaming on, and boy, the jam is intense! Check it out. But they cut it so short, I had to gnash my teeth.
I see they followed it up with a 5-minute Good Lovin' with no jam - and then a relatively short Lovelight with 90 seconds of Not Fade Away thrown in (like on 4/15/70).
My guess is they were in a hurry to wrap up the show, maybe because they started late.

Lemieux singled out the 2/2/70 Stephen>Mason's transition in his comments, which is funny because that's one point where the band clearly had no idea what to do next - during Feb '70 they were toying with different segues out of Stephen (as was discussed here recently). You can hear the drummers start Alligator but that gets rejected & everybody stops in confusion...

Lemieux did not sound as enthusiastic about the 12/20/69 show, it seems it's being released mainly on the strength of its unknown Dark Star. Which is exciting enough for me!
He says of the Lovelight, "Do not play this in front of young children," so I guess Pigpen went into further obscene flights of fancy after the section we've recently been discussing...

He didn't say much about the bonus disc but it looks like it will have the missing first reel of 12/21.

He hinted that the two shows from this batch he's considering for release next year come from around December '69 - one has another unknown Dark Star (yippee!), and a strong Eleven & Dew. The other show has his favorite Easy Wind, it seems.
